scratchdisk and Going Green

As a little company, scratchdisk has big ambitions to be an environmentally-friendly set-up and a responsible corporate citizen. We believe that if we do our little part, we can indeed help heal the planet, and ensure sustainability. We have only one Earth, and it is our responsibility to take care of it.

Internally, scratchdisk has taken proactive steps (and more in the process) to contribute to the preservation of the planet:

1. Recycle. Recycle. Recycle – whether it is photocopy paper, newspaper, notepads, we keep them in a recycle bin for reuse as scrap, note paper, etc. We use the services of specialists like Netsource Enterprise to recycle, refurbish and reuse our printer toner and ink catridges. Have an unwanted Mac, printer, monitor, iPod, mobile phone? Send it to Apple.
2. Eco-paper - we are converting all our stationery (business cards, letterheads, etc) to utilise enviro-friendly paper to replace conventional paper stock. We are also sourcing for alternatives like Cyclus to replace our photocopy paper. In projects current and in the future, we push the use of enviro-paper to our Clients.
3. Have a tree! We are taking steps to have more ‘green’ in the office environment. The benefits are plenty. Just a few:
   • Plants emit oxygen, clean the air
   • Plants reduce stress, minor ailments
   • Plants improve concentration and increase productivity
   • Plants can help save energy
   • Plants reduce dust pollution
   • Plants reduce noise
4. Conserve energy – simple steps like using energy-saving bulbs, shutting down the computers when not in use help save energy. We are also looking to solar-powered battery packs for our portable computers and mobile phones like offerings from Solamas. Clean power for the next generation.
5. Eat & use organic – We love organic food. What’s better than healthy, organic food to power our creative bodies and minds?
