It’s great to see the new Machines website up and running after a long delay. scratchdisk was involved in the complete redesign of Malaysia’s largest Apple reseller’s website, which was completed last year. The inner workings and geeky programming was handled by our partners Buzzmedia. Hope you like the new layout, do send us feedback!

Apple’s future inspired by 1960s Braun products

A great read on how Braun’s Dieter Ram has influenced Apple’s head designer Jonathan Ive throughout Apple’s product range and which provides clues to Apple’s design direction in the future. Some core principals that both Braun and Apple share include:

  • Good design is innovative.
  • Good design makes a product useful.
  • Good design is aesthetic.
  • Good design helps us to understand a product.
  • Good design is unobtrusive
  • Good design is honest.
  • Good design is durable.
  • Good design is consequent to the last detail.
  • Good design is concerned with the environment.
  • Good design is as little design as possible.

Apple’s internal design process revealed

From picture perfect mock-ups, 10 different mock-up designs for each new feature to “going crazy” at brainstorm meetings, it is no wonder that Apple is ahead of everyone else in the industry. Importantly, the internal creative culture that spurs innovation and creativity. Awesome insight.
